Pros and cons of MBTA mTicket app for iPhone and iPad

MBTA mTicket app good for

This app is actually quiet fine and always functional for me. I think all the 1 star reviews are unfair.
Would like to have the service notifications available inside the app rather than having people subscribe to text msg. Also, should use the iOS app controls for everything rather than loading safari for information like Schedules etc.
Like many reviewers I "lost" my tickets when the software updated. Shot a note to customer service (look for the "help" link in the app) and they fixed it in an hour or so. Super responsive and easy. App works great otherwise... still way better than paper tickets

Some bad moments

I am solely using this app to get the schedule. It takes waaay too many taps, menu navigation and confirmations to do this simple thing. It would be nice to save your preferences and open each time on your preferred timetable. Say, you are driving late to the train station and wondering if you are going to catch the train or not. Maybe you want to check the departure times from a few nearby stations. Good luck doing that! It was bad before the update, it is bad now too.
Dev team should be embarrassed to be publishing apps like this. You went from mediocre to complete garbage with one update. Hopefully this is a design experiment with a kids coding program.
Clearly I’m not the only one. After the update, it won’t let me sign in. Won’t send me an email to reset my password. It let me buy the ticket (of course), and sent me a confirm email stating that it charged my card, but now it won’t show me the ticket in the app… so it’s gone, so is my money, and I’m screwed with nothing to show the conductor. Stealing my money. This is so not ok.
The old app worked fine. This "update" doesnt work at all on my new iPhone 7. It just says Im not connected to the internet. This is garbage. Also, I called customer service for help and they were 100% clueless.
What a poorly designed app. Waaay too many steps to see the schedules. Fix it and make it easier
I have both the iPhone 6 and iPhone 7+. Ever since the update I have been unable to purchase tickets or setup an account. The message of "no internet connection, unable to reach server" pops up every chance it gets. First I thought it was the new iPhone 7+ and maybe there was a glitch. Tried it on my old iPhone 6, same issue. My BF had no issues with the new app upgrade and it worked for him. I tried everything possible... deleted and reinstalled app. Went to ticket office for assistance, not helpful, already told me everything I knew. Called MBTA, no clue again. Emailed MBTA, still waiting for a response. Finally I gave up and just purchased a hard ticket, which is kind of an inconvenience. I figured it wouldnt hurt, so I made an appointment at Apple and the Geniuses there figured it out. Granted, not a happy resolution but a resolution. In short, if you have an iPhone, you need to go to your settings>general>reset>reset all settings. This is going to start your iPhone from scratch, then download the stupid app again and it should work. We tried it on the iPhone 6 and it gave me the ability to buy tickets. If your phone is not backed up you are going to lose some information such as saved data in certain apps. Hope that helps some of you with the same issue. Happy Commuting!
