MBTA mTicket App Reviews

Great, except...

Wont accept VISA cards from Canada! Really???

Good idea, bad implementation

I am solely using this app to get the schedule. It takes waaay too many taps, menu navigation and confirmations to do this simple thing. It would be nice to save your preferences and open each time on your preferred timetable. Say, you are driving late to the train station and wondering if you are going to catch the train or not. Maybe you want to check the departure times from a few nearby stations. Good luck doing that! It was bad before the update, it is bad now too.

Worst Update Ever!

Dev team should be embarrassed to be publishing apps like this. You went from mediocre to complete garbage with one update. Hopefully this is a design experiment with a kids coding program.

Works

Its fast and convenient.

Functionality = Zero.

Clearly I’m not the only one. After the update, it won’t let me sign in. Won’t send me an email to reset my password. It let me buy the ticket (of course), and sent me a confirm email stating that it charged my card, but now it won’t show me the ticket in the app… so it’s gone, so is my money, and I’m screwed with nothing to show the conductor. Stealing my money. This is so not ok.

Doesnt work on iPhone 7

The old app worked fine. This "update" doesnt work at all on my new iPhone 7. It just says Im not connected to the internet. This is garbage. Also, I called customer service for help and they were 100% clueless.

WHERE THE SCHEDULES

What a poorly designed app. Waaay too many steps to see the schedules. Fix it and make it easier

Resolution for No Internet Access

I have both the iPhone 6 and iPhone 7+. Ever since the update I have been unable to purchase tickets or setup an account. The message of "no internet connection, unable to reach server" pops up every chance it gets. First I thought it was the new iPhone 7+ and maybe there was a glitch. Tried it on my old iPhone 6, same issue. My BF had no issues with the new app upgrade and it worked for him. I tried everything possible... deleted and reinstalled app. Went to ticket office for assistance, not helpful, already told me everything I knew. Called MBTA, no clue again. Emailed MBTA, still waiting for a response. Finally I gave up and just purchased a hard ticket, which is kind of an inconvenience. I figured it wouldnt hurt, so I made an appointment at Apple and the Geniuses there figured it out. Granted, not a happy resolution but a resolution. In short, if you have an iPhone, you need to go to your settings>general>reset>reset all settings. This is going to start your iPhone from scratch, then download the stupid app again and it should work. We tried it on the iPhone 6 and it gave me the ability to buy tickets. If your phone is not backed up you are going to lose some information such as saved data in certain apps. Hope that helps some of you with the same issue. Happy Commuting!

I dont normally review apps but...

This app is actually quiet fine and always functional for me. I think all the 1 star reviews are unfair.

Stopped accepting payments

This was working just fine and then has slowly stopped accepting any of my cards over the last week. It keeps saying there is an error and to check my card (even when it was a saved card hat had worked). Now none work. Please fix this ASAP.

Awful

I updated the app and now every time I go purchase a ticket it says "no network connection." I tried to use it connected to my carrier network and to wifi and it says the same thing. I had a conductor yelling at me on the train because I was unable to purchase a ticket and he did not believe it was the apps fault. Is there a fix coming? I cant he the only one with this problem.

Sluggish and Inefficient

The app before the latest update was already poorly organized, and sometimes buttons did not work. After the update, it got worse. Especially when I want to check train times, it brings me to the website, which completely defeats the purpose and efficiency of an app. The app and website designs are also not appealing.

Horrible

The new app is horrible. I havent been able to access my monthly pass sn cant even buy tickets. I keep getting this ridiculous "no internet access" message. Have uninstalled and reinstalled the app at least 10 times. I even reset my iphone but guess what??? IT STILL DOESNt work! Are you fixing it???

An App that Matches a 3rd-World Train Service

You can buy and use tickets, so its better than 1-star. Otherwise it is clunky, glitchy, and whatever they paid the developers was too much. In short, it is a perfect fit for a crappy commuter rail company.

Horrible

This new version is horrible. The previous version was much better. I constantly have to uninstall and reinstall the app to see my tickets.

Nice improvements

Would like to have the service notifications available inside the app rather than having people subscribe to text msg. Also, should use the iOS app controls for everything rather than loading safari for information like Schedules etc.

Less is more..or in this case less is less

This app had the capability of displaying the schedule, though it was horrible it was all in app, now it opens a page in safari to get the schedule. I hardly call that progression as everything else is exactly the same. Not like we get notification alerts for any unlikely events that maybe occurring on the MBTA lines.

Worthless...

Doesnt work even with 5 bars Update with new version (3.2.5.): still doesnt work...

Stupid stupid stupid!

This stupid app used to be slightly more useful than it is now. Why would they remove the fare zone display from the station names? Also, tapping "schedules" sends you to a really stupid non-mobile optimized site! Come on! Even the old version had schedules in it! Why does the MBTA support this garbage?

Current version doesnt work with iPhone 7!

This has been confirmed to me by MBTA employees and customer service. And yet I received no notification that after commuting with mobile tickets for three years, I would need to buy a paper ticket this month. There isnt even any notification on the current version description here in the App Store, nor is there any notice on the MBTA website.
